Apply for a Canada Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Canada introduced the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) in 2015, allowing eligible citizens to visit Canada by completing a simple online form before traveling.

The eTA allows multiple entries for tourism, business, or transit for a maximum stay of 6 months each time.

You need to apply for an eTA to visit Canada if you are from one of the visa-exempt countries (eligible countries for an eTA) and you are arriving by air or transiting through a Canadian airport.

It is valid for 5 years or until the associated passport expiration date, whichever comes first.

The Canada eTA online application form is straightforward and simple to complete.

Applicants will need to provide personal details, passport information, and contact details. Applicants will also need to answer a few simple questions about their background, including medical history.

Once the eTA is approved, it is electronically linked to the traveler’s passport.

If you already have a valid consulate visa to Canada, you do not need to apply for an eTA.
